Extreme Parenting: Radical Unschooling

I came across this earlier and wanted to hear other thoughts/reflections on this concept.

- Is this too idealistic?

- Will it adequately prepare kids for the real world? College?

- Can this type of learning be more meaningful than a traditional classroom setting?

  1. The following statements, above all the others, stand out as utter idiocy:

“Let a child follow his or her own passions, and the learning will come from the doing.”

    “No formal education at all.”

“If they need… they will find that information.”

“There is no punishment, no judgment, no discipline.”

And the fact that the children cannot even form coherent answers to the interviewer's simplistic yes/no questions is a red flag. It will not prepare kids for college, OR the real world-- You don't get to be free and do whatever you want to do. You have responsibilities, even as an adult, and this mode of education fails to convey that message above all others.
